USA vs. Martinique 2017: Start time, TV channel for Gold Cup
The USMNT need all three points, but Martinique may not be the pushover they’re hoping for.
The United States may have left some of their biggest stars at home coming into the Gold Cup, but they were still hoping for more than one point in their opening match against Panama. They’ll be hoping to make up for lost time against Martinique — but that may not be as easy as they’re hoping it will be.
That’s because Martinique, despite being traditionally being one of the weaker teams in CONCACAF, have been on an absolute tear. They don’t play as many matches as other CONCACAF sides do, but they’ve won seven of their last nine matches dating back to early 2016. They beat a Nicaragua team that was supposed to be better than them in their opening match, and did it by an easy 2-0 scoreline, indicating that the USMNT will need to be more focused and aware of their opponents than they may have been expecting to need to be.
