NBA Free Agency: David West expected to return to Warriors for a final season

0

Veteran forward David West enjoyed his time with the Warriors enough to stick around.

NBA reporter David Aldridge tweeted that veteran forward David West is expected to sign a one-year contract with the Golden State Warriors in what will be his last season.

There is little question that West came to the Warriors last offseason to win a championship. But he's staying because the Warriors have created a situation that is really difficult to leave for a veteran player considering retirement every summer, as Drew Shiller of CSN described a couple of days ago.

"I'm thinking about it. I'm kinda leaning toward playing again," West said on the Uninterrupted podcast Open Run. "Probably just gonna give it a couple more days or so just to keep running it through my head. But if I do keep playing, it's gonna be out here. It's just such a great spot. I really enjoyed the environment, enjoy the guys."

West demonstrated his enjoyment of the environment shortly after the Warriors won the Finals in June in a moving speech that still resonates with people.

West is a welcome presence in the locker room and will give the Warriors some continuity in the frontcourt if others aren't so inclined to stick around.
