Jordan Spieth drains incredible bunker shot to win Travelers Championship playoff

This was one of the best finishes in recent PGA Tour history and it came from its biggest star.

For golf fans complaining of a somewhat lackluster finish to the U.S. Open last week, the little old Travelers Championship more than made up for it on Sunday night outside Hartford.

After sputtering down the back nine and barely hanging on just to get in a playoff, Jordan Spieth went ahead and dunked one from a bunker at the 18th hole, the first in sudden death, to beat Daniel Berger. Spieth was in that same bunker in regulation and burned the edge with a sand shot that led to a par save. This time, he did one better and put it right in the jar for one of the best finishes you’ll ever see on the PGA Tour.

The club toss was also one of Spieth’s best reactions in a career full of them, and he then followed it up with a chest bump with caddie Michael Greller. The win makes him the second youngest to 10 victories on the PGA Tour, and he joins Tiger Woods as the only player of the modern era to get to that mark before his 24th birthday.

The shot was reminiscent of the bunker hole-out he had at the John Deere for his first ever PGA Tour win in 2013. His good friend Justin Thomas had it all the way.
