NBA Draft Rumors: Lakers could move No. 2 pick if Paul George deal becomes three-team trade

0

For what? Who knows!

The Los Angeles Lakers have been steadfast that two assets are untouchable for most of the offseason: Brandon Ingram, and the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. It seems at least one of them might actually not be as off limits as previously thought, though.

Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times reports that “as of now, Lakers haven't changed their mind about Ingram's availability, but the No. 2 pick could be in play if a third team gets involved” in their trade talks with the Indiana Pacers involving Paul George.

It’s totally unknown right now what such a three-team deal would look like, especially since the Lakers have very little incentive to offer up the No. 2 pick to Indiana considering George wants to come to Los Angeles as a free agent anyway.

Could they be offering up that pick in order to get Timofey Mozgov and/or Luol Deng’s contracts off their books? Could they be looking to add another good player or trade down for multiple picks? It’s unknown right now, but if the Lakers have put that pick on the table, then something crazy is brewing.
