What are your Thoughts on De'Aaron Fox?

I don't think anyone out there is arguing the depth of this incoming draft class. While mostly we've seen the names Ball, Jackson, and to a degree now, Fultz being tossed around as possible options for the Lakers, De'Aaron Fox might be the player in this draft I am most intrigued by. While there are certainly some holes (lack of size, inconsistent from long range), his motor, defensive ability, mental make-up, and competitive nature have me thinking this kid might have the most upside of any prospect in the draft.

Outside of his size (which isn't necessarily fixable), his biggest glaring weakness, the long ball, might not be as bad as it seems on paper. Fundamentally, we can see Fox actually has a fairly fluid and repeatable shot. Although he struggled from deep during his lone season at Kentucky, that doesn't mean he necessarily falls into the same category as a Ricky Rubio. The repeatable motion combined with the fact that he was actually known to be a solid shooter pre-Kentucky tells me that his shot could potentially be fixable at the NBA level by simply large quantities of repetition and familiarity.

If he can get consistent from long range, frankly, I see the kid being borderline unstoppable. He has the top flight speed to beat anyone, a very willing passer (with solid vision too), and can play incredible defense on the perimeter.

Obviously none of this is a given as his shot may never materialize in the NBA and he won't be getting any taller. On top of that, for as much as I love his upside, I feel he would be a stretch at the #2 pick and thus would probably require us to drop a few spots back to rationalize the pick. Figured now is as good a time as ever to talk about shopping the pick however with all the uncertainty surrounding the top 3.

If it isn't painfully obvious, i'm fairly new around these parts and would love to see what the rest of y'all feel about this kid and his upside. I loved him at Kentucky, and the more I see from this kid, the more I fall in love with his NBA potential.
