It was not an ideal start for the Tyler Junior College Apaches in Friday night's Region XIV Conference basketball contest against Angelina.
Former Longview High School product Jason Bush Jr. helped keep the Apaches within striking distance early.
Shahada Wells went on an offensive explosion to give the Apaches the lead, and Bush helped put the finishing touches on an 81-74 victory at Wagstaff Gymnasium.
