PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The St. Andrews University women's golf team put on a great performance at the NAIA AAC Women's Direct National Qualifier over the week as they finished in 2nd place setting a new school record by shooting a 305 in the first round at Callaway Gardens CC in Pine Mountain, GA hosted by Point University.

Sophomore Lydia Randell shot another school record of 70 (-2 under par) to tie for the lead after the first round. It bettered the previous record of 71 set by senior Paige Hartman in 2015.

She then fell a few shots in round two shooting a 77 to finish the round again tied for first with Milligan's Cassidy Gibson, who shot 70-77 as well for a  +3 147 total score. SAU shot a total score of 616 to finish just four shots back of first place Milligan College (TN), who clinched the automatic bid to nationals with their win and score of 612 and first round score of 300. The Lady Knights shot the second-best round each day firing a record 305 in round one and a 311 in round two falling just a stroke shy of the 310 shot by 3rd place SCAD (Ga.) in round two.

With Milligan winning the Direct Qualifier team title, Gibson qualifies to play at Nationals as part of her team.  Therefore, Randell will now represent the AAC and the Knights at the NAIA National Championship at the LPGA National Course in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Both women were declared co-individual champions with Randell receiving the automatic bid to NAIA Nationals. Randell also led the Knights with a team-high 7 birdies. Randell was also named to the all-tournament team because of her title and the all-conference first team which is a combination of regular season play, and the spring and fall championships.
