Morning Briefing: Braves Looking to Add Starting Pitching
Good morning, Mets fans!
The Mets have been firing away with moves since the turn of the new year, rocketing themselves back into high-end playoff contention in the minds of many around baseball. However, for the rest of the NL East, it has been relatively quiet with the Phillies saying their roster is pretty much set and the Nationals trading away their ace. But reports from Jon Heyman of the NY Post have pointed to the Braves adding more starting pitching, with names like veteran right-handers Lucas Giolito and Chris Bassitt popping up on Atlanta’s radar.
After a disappointing season where the Braves missed the postseason for the first time since 2017, Atlanta is looking to bounce back while trying to limit its luxury tax threshold penalty, which it is already exceeding.
