The Seattle Mariners flail and flop and fail to win game two against the Sacramento Athletics
Severino slipped early, but it was the Mariners who tripped and fell on their face.
The Seattle Mariners dropped game two against the Athletics in Sacramento, to a score of 6-2. Logan Evans couldn’t hold it together, and Luis Severino slipped but stayed on his feet to get the job done.
The vagrant Athletics hosted the Mariners for game two
To play the game, a minor stadium cobbled for view
Severino started on the hill for the gold and green
While Logan Evans was the man for the visiting Seattle team
Right away on the mound, Luis Severino twice did slip
His foot fled from under, and he landed on his hip
The slip on the mound was rather quickly corrected
And in the first inning, three strikeouts collected
Luis faced the minimum in the next two innings he’d see
While Evans found folly in the bottom of inning three
Butler hit up the middle, and Crawford failed to glove
The ball hurt Kurtz to first, and Rooker did shove
Rooker’s home run gave the A’s three on the board
But the hungry home team would quickly gain more
Shea Langeliers reached second on the double
An Andujar rbi double then finished that trouble
The question then was, could the sailors answer back
To undo this knot, Arozarena provided the slack
A single gave him one base, and then he stole dos
Now a 20-20 season, he has half a decade of those
But home was the base, where he really wanted to go
For that he just needed a single from teammate Polo
The shutout avoided, Seattle was finally on the board
Unfortunately that, was the only time they scored
The case was not the same for the Sacramento team
Who after two K’s in the fifth, quickly regained steam
Langeliers struck again, this time sending it over the wall
Another Andujar rbi double, and Logan Evans did fall
He finished his night having struck seven hitters out
But six runs on seven hits balances that with some doubt
The blame of the loss is shared, divided by many
If a ball went to shortstop, it was likely not fielded by any
Julio was the only Mariner to get on base on two occasions
One run on six hits and eleven strikeouts is too much abrasion
A nod to the pen, who pitched 3.1 innings without damage
Kowar had a clean two with a K, and Vargas for 1.1 did manage
The day was lost for Seattle but hope tomorrow remains
The series will be decided, in the upcoming third game
Logan Evans may have some more skill maturing to do
But lucky for Mariners fans, in the next game they get Woo
(And who knows with the deadline.. maybe some new names in the crew...?)
