Morning Briefing: Blade Tidwell to Start Against Phillies
Good morning, Mets fans!
According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, the Mets called up right-hander Justin Hagenman for Friday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies, where he was expected to serve as the bulk arm, either as a starter or in relief. However, since Hagenman pitched on Thursday, Blade Tidwell will instead get the start in Friday’s series opener in Philadelphia, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. The Mets also recalled Dedniel Núñez from Triple-A Syracuse, optioning pitcher Ty Adcock, while placing Max Kranick on the IL.
Tidwell, who was New York’s second-round pick in 2022, has a 4.76 ERA in 13 outings for Triple-A Syracuse this season. He made his major league debut against the St. Louis Cardinals on May 4 and allowed six earned runs across 3 2/3 innings.
Now onto the morning briefing!
