News and Notes for Thursday, April 24th.

The Yankees avoided the sweep and ended the Cleveland Guardians five game win streak, but series win still belongs to Cleveland. Nothing really went the Guards way during the game, including multiple long fly balls that should have been HRs, not outs. Its hard to complain when the Yankees usually roll into town and dog walk the Guardians. I will gladly take this outcome over what has historically been the result when these clubs meet. The full game recap can be read here.

Zak Kent and Will Wilson made their major league debuts. Kent recorded a strike out against Aaron Judge with bases loaded to end the inning.

Will Wilson had his first hit and first stolen base against the Yankees! That has got to feel great for both players.

Guardians beat reporter Tim Stebbins has a lovely piece on the journey from draft to debut for Kent and Wilson.

According to Tom Withers (AP), manager Stephen Vogt revealed that Emmanuel Clase experienced shoulder discomfort after his appearance on Sunday. He did not pitch yesterday, but he is playing catch. His availability and further details are still unknown.

There were a few moves in the minors. RHP Allan Hernandez (AA) and RHP Cam Walty (Low-A) were placed on the 7-Day IL.

Around the League:

Blake Snell will pause throwing and be reevaluated.

Jeff Passan has a neat article about pitchers and pitches they failed to develop.
