Morning Briefing: Lindor Becomes Fifth Shortstop to Hit 250 Homers
Good morning, Mets fans!
The Mets (13-7) defeated the Cardinals (9-11) 5-4 on Friday night and they did it in style, with Francisco Lindor crushing a walk-off bomb in the bottom of the ninth inning. Not only did his home run electrify the home crowd and give the team a win, but it also put Lindor in some elite company.
The home run, which was Lindor’s 250th of his career, made him just the fifth primary shortstop (60% of time at the position) to reach that plateau. He joins Cal Ripken Jr., Miguel Tejada, Hanley Ramirez, and Derek Jeter as Lindor continues to cement himself as one of the game’s great shortstops.
