Mariners Game #20 Preview: 4/18, SEA at TOR
Torpedo bats in Toronto? It Raleigh could happen.
Some shuffling of the rotation for yesterday’s game saw Emerson Hancock slot back into the rotation with aplomb, shifting Bryan Woo’s start on the mound for the Seattle Mariners to today’s game one of three against the Toronto Blue Jays. Opposite him for the home town Jays is RHP Bowden Francis. There is no rotation shuffling today, but there was some bullpen shuffling earlier in the day, with Troy Taylor optioned and Casey Lawrence recalled.
Lineups:
The top half of the lineup is a lot of the usual suspects. Julio is leading off today, and Cal Raleigh will be in at the catcher position, and batting third. The entire bottom half of the lineup is well, the infield. Today it will be Rowdy Tellez at first base, Miles Mastrobuoni at second base, and Ben Williamson getting the start at third base, after getting a hit in every game he’s been in so far, all three of the series in Cincinnati.
Cal Raleigh’s incredibly hot start and history of terrorizing the Blue Jays is certainly something that will be on the mind of many fans in Seattle and Toronto alike, and one has to wonder if Raleigh’s torpedo bats made it through customs unhindered.
Leading off for the Blue Jays is Bo Bichette, who so far is having a much better season than he did in 2024, but don’t worry, there is still time. Behind him is the recently extended Vladimir Guerrero Jr., with Anthony Santander in the DH spot batting third, and Andrés Giménez batting cleanup.
