That Didn’t Last Long
The Baltimore Orioles ended their modest two game winning streak in front of 42,587 fans Friday by losing to the Cincinnati Reds 8-3.
Cedric Mullins (1 for 4, HR, R, RBI) opened the scoring with a second inning homerun, his fifth of the year. Heston Kjerstad (2 for 3, HR, R, 2 RBI) homered in the eighth inning, his 3rd homerun in the past seven days. The remainder of the game saw the Orioles produce 1 more hit and a walk while striking out 15 times.
Gary Sanchez (1 for 3, R) produced that lone other hit.
Once again, the Baltimore offense looked and acted lifeless.
Cade Povich (0-2) started and was tagged with the loss for allowing 7 runs on 6 hits, including 3 homeruns, while walking 5 and striking out 4 over 3.1 innings of work.
The bullpen trio of Scott Blewett (2.2 IP, R, 4 H, BB, 4 K, WP), Matt Bowman (1.0 IP, H, BB) and Cionel Perez (2.0 IP, 3 K) did their job while the Baltimore bats did not.
