Kodai Senga shined on Sunday, throwing seven innings without allowing a run, propelling the Mets to a 8-0 victory over the Athletics. Senga only tossed 79 pitches, allowing four hits, two walks, and striking out four batters in the process.
This victory gave the Mets their fourth straight series victory, as the Amazins are 10-5 and in first place in the NL East.

The Mets stay on the road, as they will face off against the Twins in a three-game series starting on Monday. First pitch will be at 7:40 p.m.

Monday: Clay Holmes vs. Joe Ryan
Tuesday: Tylor Megill vs. Bailey Ober

Cubs manager announced that LHP Justin Steele will undergo season-ending surgery to repair his left elbow. Steele was an All-Star back in 2023 and had already earned three wins this season.
Nick Deeds of MLB Trade Rumors reported that Trevor Megill (not Tylor) will undergo an MRI on his knee, looking for a second opinion after the initial results came back clean.

April 14 has some serious significance for the New York Mets. Jerry Koosman made his MLB debut on April 14, 1967 in a relief pitching appearance against the Philadelphia Phillies. Kooz would then go on to be a key member of the Mets’ 1969 World Series run.
Just one year later, the great Nolan Ryan won his first MLB game. Ryan fanned eight batters over 6 2/3 innings, earning his first of 324 career wins in a 4-0 affair over the Houston Astros.
In 1999, John Franco reached 400 saves. At the time, Franco was the second player in MLB history to reach 400 saves. Now, he is one of eight legends in MLB history to do so. Check out an article from 2020 written by Brian Wright on the feat.
Just last year, the Mets immortalized Dwight Gooden by retiring Doc’s iconic number 16 jersey on April 14, 2024.
