Morning Briefing: Michael King, Padres Haven’t Discussed Extension
Good morning, Mets fans!
Right-hander Michael King and the Padres haven’t engaged in extension talks, he told reporters at the Padres’ FanFetst on Saturday.
King posted a 2.95 ERA in 31 games (30 starts) last year and finished seventh in Cy Young voting. He’s due to become a free agent after the 2025 season. It was recently reported that the Mets have spoken to the Padres about both King and Dylan Cease.
According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, San Diego isn’t “actively shopping” King, noting that Cease is more likely to be traded between the two of them.
