Luisangel Acuña went 2-for-4 and smacked his third homer of the Venezuelan Winter League season on Sunday night. Acuña is now batting .337 with a .914 OPS in 119 plate appearances on the season.

Jose Siri had an interesting night in LIDOM action on Sunday, swiping home after initially over-sliding third base. Siri continued running and evaded a rundown to score. Siri also clubbed his first homer of the season earlier in the night.

Pat Ragazzo of Sports Illustrated reported that the Mets have shown interest in right-hander Griffin Canning. The 28-year-old posted a 5.19 ERA with 130 strikeouts against 66 walks in 171 2/3 innings for the Angels in 2024. Canning was traded to the Braves for Jorge Soler in October but was non-tendered shortly thereafter.

Former All-Star Masahiro Tanaka has signed with the Yomiuri Giants of NPB. Tanaka returned to the Rakuten Golden Eagles in 2021 after a seven-year stint with the Yankees, but he only made six appearances in 2024, posting a 4.50 ERA over 28 innings.
The Braves have signed outfielder Bryan De La Cruz to a non-guaranteed contract for the 2025 season. De La Cruz clubbed a career-high 21 homers in 2024 but also posted a career-worst .654 OPS and negative-1.5 bWAR over 622 plate appearances between the Marlins and Pirates. Pittsburgh opted to non-tender him following the season.
Former Mets prospect Adam Oller has signed with the KIA Tigers of the KBO. Oller made eight starts for the Marlins in 2024, posting a 5.31 ERA with 36 strikeouts against 22 walks in 42 1/3 innings.

1982: The Mets officially re-acquire Tom Seaver for the Reds in exchange for Jason Felice, Lloyd McClendon, and Charlie Puleo. The 38-year-old Seaver is coming off his worst season as a pro but was the runner-up in NL Cy Young voting in 1981.
2001: The Mets flip Tsuyoshi Shinjo and Desi Relaford to the Giants for former All-Star southpaw Shawn Estes. The 28-year-old tossed 159 innings in 2001, posting a 4.02 ERA with 102 strikeouts. The team also signs workhorse Pedro Astacio to a one-year contract.
2012: The Mets agree to trade reigning NL Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey to the Blue Jays along with catchers Mike Nickeas and Josh Thole in exchange for top catching prospect Travis d’Arnaud, pitching prospects Noah Syndergaard and Wuilmer Becerra, and veteran backstop John Buck. This marks the second time d’Arnaud has been traded for a Cy Young winner, having previously been traded by the Phillies for Roy Halladay three years prior.
