Good morning, Mets fans!

The Mets have shown resilience all season, returning from tough losses to stay in the playoff race, and their game on Thursday was no exception. After a soul-crushing loss on Wednesday night, they bounced back to keep pace and beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2 while Edwin Díaz earned his 15th save. Wild Card Update

The Mets were able to gain some ground in the Wild Card hunt with their win and with the Phillies defeating the Atlanta Braves. They are now only three games behind Atlanta for the final spot. The Mets also gained some ground on the San Diego Padres as they fell to the St. Louis Cardinals 4-1.

The Mets are hiring! The organization is looking to hire a Senior Data Scientist and a Data Scientist in Baseball Analytics. Both roles involve building, testing, and presenting statistical models to support decision-making in Baseball Operations. Candidates need strong skills in complex statistics and data analytics and must be able to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. The Senior role requires more experience, while baseball knowledge is preferred but not mandatory for either position.

The Mets and Siegelman Stable are releasing a New Era cap collaboration on Sept. 2 at 10 a.m., which will be available in three colorways. Founder Max Siegelman shared his thoughts on the collaboration: “As a kid from Long Island, whose first internship ever was for the New York Mets, it feels like a full-circle moment.”

As reported by Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Los Angeles Angels are promoting left-handed pitching prospect Sam Aldegheri to the majors from Double-A. At 22-years-old, he will become the first pitcher born and raised in Italy to play in the big leagues. Aldegheri is expected to be ready for their next scheduled game.

Katie Woo of The Athletic writes that the St. Louis Cardinals have placed outfielder Tommy Pham on waivers. Pham can continue playing for the Cardinals until another organization claims him. If no team adds him by Sunday’s deadline, he will remain with St. Louis and would not be eligible to play in the postseason for another team.

He was the only player to achieve this feat as a Met until Wilmer Flores matched him with a 6-for-6 performance himself on July 3, 2016. New York unleashed 21 hits as a team against the Astros in the road contest.
