Mariners Moose Tracks, 8/18/24: Julio Rodríguez, Garrett Crochet, and Rich Hill

0 8
MLB: Chicago Cubs at Chicago White Sox
Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Sunday, and if it’s Sunday, it’s Meet the Links.

In Mariners news...

  • Even running at 70% effort Julio is still easily fast enough to score from first, and didn’t appear to be in any pain whatsoever while he was eagerly climbing over the dugout wall after scoring.
  • After a string of injury shortened starts by Bryan Woo, Cal Raleigh apparently pulled him aside and told him rather directly that he needed to change up his off day routine, and the message appears to have landed.
  • Julio wasn’t shy with his feelings following the Mariners 5th straight loss yesterday, at one point outright suggesting he doesn’t believe the Mariners are a good team because they don’t have a “consistent footing” that he believes truly great teams have.

Around the league...

  • Dick Mountain is back baby! (kinda)
  • Ken Rosenthal wrote up an in-depth look at who was involved in the Garret Crochet sweepstakes and why the White Sox ultimately decided not to move him at this season’s deadline.
  • Do you know how bad you have to be to get eliminated from playoff contention sooner than the ‘03 Tigers? That team lost 119 games! One-hundred and nineteen! That’s worse than the ‘01 Mariners were good. And as it stands right now the White Sox are on pace to lose 123 games! And all of that losing and they can’t even get a top-10 draft pick. Truly a one-of-a-kind organizational failure. This is the baseball equivalent of Enron.

Nick’s pick...

  • Streameast said, “what is dead may never die.”
