With the move, the Mets will have Danny Young as the only left-hander in the bullpen. Garrett, meanwhile, will slide back into the Mets’ options for late innings.
The news was first reported by Tim Britton of the Athletic after Friday’s 6-0 loss.
Vinny Nittoli signed a minor-league deal with the Mets. He pitched to a 1.50 ERA in 12 innings of work between the Athletics and Orioles. Nittoli pitched for the Mets in 2023, pitching to a 2.45 ERA 3 2/3 innings.
