It was 90s Night at the ol’ ballpark, and somehow the most forgettable music of the decade seemed to be getting spotlighted — particularly egregious given the Mariners from flanneled Seattle were in town as our guests.

Well, the M’s got pretty grunged up by the likes of Creed, The Cranberries, Blink-182 and Green Day getting the shine. For sure, by game’s end, Sox fans felt stupid and contagious.

Hell, with Drew Thorpe driven from the game two outs in, having been pummeled for three homers and eight runs, it almost became fun to lose and to pretend.

The White Sox had seven hits, and eight Ks. Eloy Jiménez had a game for the ages, something worse than a platinum sombrero of four Ks: two Ks, two GIDPs in four at-bats.

Oh well, whatever, nevermind.

Top Play

 FanGraphs

Yeah, in a 10-0 game that was 8-0 before one inning completed, the “big play” is practically the two managers exchanging lineup cards. Jason Vosler opened the scoring in the first with a two-run single, good for 16.3% WPA. It was all Seattle would need tonight.
