Mets Minors Recap: Brett Baty Homers Twice

The Brooklyn Cyclones were the only full-season affiliate to win on the day, but more importantly, Drew Gilbert returned to Triple-A, and Brett Baty continued to annihilate baseballs, homering twice in the Syracuse extra-inning loss.

Triple-A

Buffalo Bisons (44-52) 7, Syracuse Mets (60-36) 6

The Syracuse Mets offense was almost exclusively fueled by a huge day by Brett Baty, hitting his 10th and 11th home runs of the season. Gilbert made his first appearance for Syracuse since April 6.

New Mets signing Logan Porter went 1-for-4 on the day with a solo home run.

Blade Tidwell had one of his more impressive outings strikeout-wise in Triple-A, but was still charged with three earned runs. Wilkin Ramos would get charged with the loss, allowing the deciding run in the tenth inning.

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (47-41) 4, Richmond Flying Squirrels (43-48) 8

Kevin Parada continues his slow march to the .700 OPS club along with Alex Ramirez. Nick Lorusso hit his first Double-A home run.

  • RHP Luis Moreno (4.23 ERA) 4 IP, 7 R (6 ER), 8 H, 1 BB, 3 K, 2 HR allowed (49 of 66 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Trey McLoughlin (2.22 ERA) 2 IP, 2 K
  • RHP Nolan Clenney (6.19 ERA) 2 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 1 K

Luis Moreno was annihilated in his outing, allowing eight hits and two home runs. Trey McLoughlin had another good outing, striking out two over two innings, allowing no hits.

High-A

Brooklyn Cyclones (42-49) 3, Rome Emperors (44-45) 1

BOX SCORE

The Cyclones turned six hits and three walks into three runs, which would be enough to win the game.

Jonathan Pintaro had a solid start; his only blemish was an unearned run. The bullpen finished the game off with 4 1/3 innings of shutout baseball.

Low-A

Palm Beach Cardinals (52-37) 4, St. Lucie Mets (30-61) 3

BOX SCORE

St. Lucie did not manage an extra-base hit on Tuesday, and LF Willy Fanas went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a strikeout.

The St. Lucie staff had a fairly solid day but was not helped out by the four errors on defense, including two by Jacob ReimerBrayhans Barreto made his first appearance for St. Lucie on Tuesday and allowed one unearned run over 2 1/3 innings.
