As seen on Katia Lindor’s Instagram, Pete Alonso, Luis Severino, Francisco Alvarez, Edwin Díaz, Jose Quintana, DJ Stewart, Jeff McNeil, Francisco Lindor, Tyrone Taylor, Mark Vientos, Sean Manaea, David Peterson, Brandon Nimmo, J.D. Martinez, Kodai Senga, Reed Garrett, and Jake Diekman attended a Citi Field event on Thursday night where Jose Iglesias performed his new song “OMG.” The song has been played in the clubhouse and after every Mets home run.

Broadcasted on SNY, Mets pitching prospect Brandon Sproat delivered a strong performance for Double-A Binghamton, pitching six innings and allowing five hits, no runs, and two walks while striking out three. He threw 88 pitches, 57 for strikes, and his fastball reached 100 mph. With this outing, the right-hander lowered his Double-A ERA to 1.94.
According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, the Mets do not have a finalist to start the All-Star Game. However, they will still have at least one representative in Texas, with Luis Severino and Francisco Lindor among those making strong cases. The recent announcement notes that they won’t have a starter.
Major League Baseball released the finalists for the 2024 All-Star Game, scheduled for July 16 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees and Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies secured roster spots by leading their respective leagues in fan voting during Phase 1.

Beth Mowins will handle play-by-play duties, Elise Menaker will serve as the analyst, and Taylor McGregor will be the reporter. This game will mark the first all-female broadcast in Cubs history.
According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Chicago Cubs are signing right-handed reliever Vinny Nittoli to a major league contract. Sources reveal that Nittoli, who was designated for assignment by Oakland after posting a 2.25 ERA in eight innings, is now set to join the Cubs. The team hopes to replicate the success they found with Tyson Miller, another DFA’d reliever who has performed exceptionally well.
Hazel Mae of Sportsnet spoke with Bo Bichette regarding trade rumors and the upcoming deadline. When asked if he would be surprised to be moved at the trade deadline, Bichette responded, “No. Not surprised at all.”
According to Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Carlos Correa has a right wrist contusion after being hit by a pitch in his last game. The Twins report that X-rays were negative and that Correa is considered day-to-day.

1975: Casey Stengel made his final appearance at Shea Stadium. The legendary “Old Perfessor,” who had retired from managing ten years earlier, was invited to participate in the team’s Old Timers Day festivities. At 85, Stengel still had a flair for the dramatic, arriving just before a scheduled two-inning exhibition match between retired American and National League legends. He entered through Shea’s center field gate atop a Roman chariot drawn by two white horses. In the game, Willie Mays and Ralph Kiner each went one-for-one and scored a run, but their teammates struggled, leading to a 6-2 loss for the NL. Despite this, the Mets delighted the 37,250 fans in attendance with a 5-2 victory over Steve Carlton and the Phillies in the main event.
