Guantanamo win Cuban Baseball5 National Championship

<p>Guantanamo defeated Artemisa in the final, 2-0 (6-0, 7-1), to win the fourth Cuban Baseball5 National Championship. </p>

<p>"Sacrifice and hard work have been the key to success," said Guantamo's head coach, Llorvis Savón, speaking to the local press. "Winning became a goal of the players and staff. We shared that responsibility."</p>

<p>Both finalists accomplished their best result ever. Artemisa had earned two bronze medals in the previous three editions of the National Championship.</p>

<p>Three-time defending champions Havana, playing on home turf, beat Santiago de Cuba 2-1 (4-10, 13-3, and 6-1) to finish third.</p>

<p>Eros Bernal Morales, the technical head of Baseball5 in Cuba commented: "I want to thank the Cuban Volleyball Federation and their president Ariel Sainz for hosting the National Championship on their turf. I credit the Cuban Federation, the National Institute of Sports (INDER) and all those involved in the event for a great National Championship. Baseball5 is alive and kicking. We want to give the players the best opportunities to play."</p>

<p>Artemisa will host the <a href="https://www.wbsc.org/en/news/artemisa-to-host-cuban-youth-baseball5-championship-finals-in-may" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Youth Baseball5 National Championship (opens in a new tab)">Youth Baseball5 National Championship</a> from 20 to 26 May.</p>
