[Women's Track & Field] SXU Sets Program Record, Places 3rd at CCAC Championships

Davenport, Iowa – The Saint Xavier University women's track & field team set a new program record for points at a meet with 140, the first time that the Cougars have surpassed 100 points in a meet, and finished third overall at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC Indoor Championships this weekend in Davenport, Iowa. SXU smashed its previous program record of 86 points set last season at the Fighting Bee Invitational on January 29, 2022, also in Davenport, Iowa. Freshman Alanna Rodriguez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Homeschool) qualified for the NAIA Indoor National Championships after hitting the NAIA 'B' Standard in the 3000m Race Walk with her second-place time of 17:22.51, a new personal record (PR), claiming eight points and earned All-CCAC for Saint Xavier. She is the first Cougar to qualify for nationals in the event since Mercedes Mancha (2010-13) went all four years of her collegiate career.
