[Baseball] Crowe K's 10 as SXU tops Lincoln, 8-3

CHICAGO – Junior pitcher Nick Crowe (Manteno, Ill./Kankakee CC/Manteno) struck out a season-high 10 batters over 7.0 innings of work to help lead No. 6 seed Saint Xavier University baseball (29-23, 17-13 CCAC) to an 8-3 victory over No. 11 Lincoln College (Ill.) Tuesday afternoon in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament play-in game at Ferrell Field in Chicago. The Cougars took game one by a score of 17-13. Crowe (4-4) allowed just six hits, two runs (one earned), a walk and a hit-by-pitch. He was helped out defensively as sophomore infielder Declan Smyth (Evergreen Park, Ill./North Central/Evergreen Park)  and sophomore infielder Sam Ryan (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Conant) turned a pair of double plays; one to end a threat with two runners in scoring position to end the top of the 6th and another to limit the Lynx to just one run after loading the bases with no outs in the top of the 8th.
