[Men's Soccer] Men's Soccer Falcons Sweep KCAC Weekly Honors
WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons swept the weekly KCAC Men's Soccer awards, with senior midfielder Marcos Gomes (SR/Bello Horizonte, Brazil) being selected as the conference's top offensive player and senior goalkeeper Jasper McLeod (SR/Princes Town, Trinidad &Tobago ) securing the league's top defensive nod.
Gomes sparked the Falcons to a 5-1 victory over the Ottawa University Braves Friday night (Nov. 6).
A native of Bello Horizonte, Brazil, Gomes assisted on the first goal of the night before scoring what proved to be the game-winning tally. He then added the Falcons' opening score of the second half to provide a two-goal cushion.
Gomes is currently tied for second on the team in both goals (four) and assists (three) this season.
McLeod recorded three saves in the win and is currently sixth in the KCAC in goals-against-average (1.66) on the season.
"Marcos and Jasper both had standout performances for us against Ottawa," said Joe Dincecco, Friends University head men's soccer coach. "We are thankful to have them in our program."
The Falcons, winners of five of their last six games, are next scheduled to play at Southwestern College Friday night (Nov. 13). Kick-off is set for 7 pm in Winfield, Kan.
