WILMORE, Ky. - Kelsie Lee scored a tie-breaking goal with just under 19 minutes remaining and Andrea Vera stopped a would-be, game-tying penalty kick just over five minutes later, lifting the University of Rio Grande to a 2-1 win over Asbury University, Thursday night, in River States Conference women's soccer action at the Asbury Soccer/Lacrosse Field.
Rio Grande improved to 6-8-2 overall and 4-3-1 in conference play, while just about all but assuring itself a spot in the upcoming RSC Tournament.
Asbury, which had beaten the RedStorm in each of the last four meetings dating back to the 2014 KIAC Tournament Championship Game, slipped to 8-7 overall and 5-2 in the RSC with the loss.
