GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Women's soccer fell 2-1 to the Brenau Tigers in overtime Saturday night in an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup. This was the Cavs' sixth time seeing overtime this season, and they are now sitting just below .500 at 4-5-3 (3-4-2 AAC) as the regular season winds down.

After a scoreless first half that saw many chances, Lauren Mackenzie Starnes opened the scoring three minutes into the second half on a header assisted by Kristina Garren. Montreat held the lead until the 69th minute when Brenau netted the equalizer. The 1-1 tie would send the game to overtime where the Tigers scored the game-winner within the first couple of minutes.

"The girls did well to find their way into a quality shot," said head coach Tina Murphy. "Eight of our 10 shots were on goal, and that's growth. In regular time, we had multiple wide open looks within yards of the goal. We cracked another one off the inside of the post. We have to finish those now. That's the game."

Goalkeeper Payton Landy stood tall in net, stopping 11 of 13 shots faced for the Cavs.

Up Next: The Cavs visit conference opponent Tennessee Wesleyan Saturday, Oct. 20 for a noon kickoff.
