Clayton Kershaw will return from the disabled list and start Saturday for the Dodgers

The Dodgers are getting their ace back just as the summer playoff chase is heating up

There is no replacing a guy like Clayton Kershaw and it looks like the Dodgers will soon get to stop trying.

One of the weirder seasons in 2018 has come courtesy of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Widely considered to be one of the favorites to come out of the National League before the season started, the Dodgers got off to a horrendous start to the season. They have more recently gotten back on track and currently sit at 38-35 and second in the NL West.

A large portion of their struggles have been due to injuries to their rotation with the biggest loss being Kershaw. Clayton was first put on the disabled list with biceps tendinitis at the beginning of May. He returned by the end of May, but was almost immediately put back on the DL with a lower back issue since June 1st. Now, it looks like Dodgers will get their best player back this weekend.

Kershaw was scheduled to make a rehab start in the minors, but it appears as though the Dodgers are going to forgo that step and bring him right back into the rotation.

In the eight starts he has made in 2018, Kershaw has been quite good in posting a 2.76 ERA with 53 strikeouts in 49 innings. Here is hoping that his return from the disabled list lasts longer than his previous one.
