[Baseball] Vikings split in first day of series against Mount Mercy, day two canceled
Des Moines, IA - Grand View baseball hosted Mount Mercy in their home opener in the 2018 season. Due to weather, the teams were only able to get in the first series, splitting 1-1. The Vikings moves to an overall record of 11-13 and 4-6 in conference play.

Grand View took an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when Jimmy Anderson (JR/Eau Claire, WI) drew a walk to score the first run.
John Bisignano (JR/Windsor Heights, IA) got the win for the Vikings after allowing only one earned run on five hits while striking out five and walking four in five innings.
Tyler Smith (SO/Durbanville, South Africa) and Josh Luna (SO/Pleasantville, IA) led at the plate for the Vikings after both going 2-3. Luna recorded two runs batted in.

In game two, the Vikings lost after giving up five runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Nick Bentley (SR/Woodbury, MN) got the start for the Vikings lasting four and one-thirds innings recording four strikeouts. Bailey Scott (SR/Norwalk, IA) came in relief giving up only one hit and no earned runs and striking out five through two and two-thirds innings.
Hunter Embray (SR/Knoxville, IA) led at the plate going 2-for-4. Smith and Connor Enochs (JR/Des Moines, IA) recorded the Vikings two runs batted in.
Next Up: The Vikings will host conference foe Missouri Valley College Saturday, March 31. The doubleheader will begin at 1 pm.
