[Men's Soccer] Hornets Break Scoreless Streak, But Ultimately Fall to Columbia College

ST. LOUIS, MO- The Hornets finally connected for a goal for the first time in 4 games; but the three goals that Columbia scored prior to that proved to be too much, too late in the game for a comeback.

Columbia saw their first goal at the 17' when Ximo Gil sent a shot at HSSU goalkeeper, John Jancewicz (FR/London, England), and got it just past Jancewicz's hands enough for a 1-0 lead.

The Cougars would score again at the 36' when Michael Mayberry broke away from a Hornet defender and had a 1-on-1 with Jancewicz to make it 2-0. Matheus Lima would round out the scoring for the Cougars in the 66'.

Justin Donovan (FR) records the Hornets only goal of the game when he and Colby Harrison (FR/O'Fallon, Missouri) found themselves in a 2-on-1 situation in the box and connected for an HSSU goal. It would be the only goal they score as Columbia went on to win 3-1.

John Jancewicz continued his double-digit save record as he stopped 13 shots today, bringing his year total to 34. He is currently in 2nd place in the conference with total saves for the year.

HSSU will be back on the field this Saturday when they host Park University. Kick-off is set for 3:30 p.m.
