Winners at Santo Domingo Open 2021

Athletes from Mexico, Guatemala and host Dominican Republic took the podiums at the XI Santo Domingo Open 2021.

The first Pan Am Circuit 2021 tournament was held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from March 22 to 26, with the participation of outstanding players from Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Venezuela and the host country.

Guatemala’s players won 4 golds. In Singles, Ruben Castellanos and Nikte Sotomayor won the finals and reached the crowns. Also in Doubles, Jonathan Solis/Anibal Marroquin and Diana Corleto/Nikte Sotomayor reached the podium top in each event. Guatemala also 3 silver medals in doubles event: MD – Ruben Castellanos/Christopher Martinez, WD- Alejandra Paiz/Mariana Paiz, XD – Jonathan Solis/Diana Corleto; and a bronze medal in Singles with Alejandra Paiz.

Luis Montoya and Vanessa Villalobos (MEX) won the Mixed Doubles final against seeded one pair Solis & Corleto (GUA), winning a gold medal for Mexico. Also mexican Sabrina Solis (2nd place), Luis Montoya (2nd place) and Vanessa Villalobos (3rd place) won medals in singles.

Local players won the bronze medals: Yonatan Linarez and Angel Marines in Singles, Bryan Brea/Bryan Anderson, Linarez/Marines and Clarisa Pie/Bermary Polanco in Doubles and Brea/Acosta and Marinez/Polanco in Mixed Doubles.

This tournament could be carried out following sanitary measures and security protocols due to the current pandemic that the world is going through, guaranteeing and prioritizing the health of athletes, coaches and all the people involved in the tournament.
