[Baseball] Baseball Wins a Wild One in Opener against Christendom College
In one of the wildest games in recent Williamson history, the baseball team blew a seven run lead over the final two innings before rallying to win in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 20-19 victory in the opener of a doubleheader with Christendom College on Saturday afternoon.
Williamson lead early in the game only to see the Crusaders take their first lead at 9-8 in the fourth inning before the Williamson offense exploded to put the Mechanics up comfortably at 19-9. Or so they thought; Christendom had other thoughts as they rallied to pull to within 19-15 with two outs in the final inning. They then loaded the bases and stunned the Mechanics as they then used a grand slam home run over the centerfield fence to tie things u at 19-19! Williamson got out of the inning with things still tied and turned things over to their offense. Williamson, in turn, then loaded the bases themselves with no outs and managed to win the game on a misplayed ball in right field off a hard hit ball by C.J. Cardell (FR/Norwood, PA).
Williamson was led by Mike Naumann (FR/Leedom, PA) who walked five times and scored five runs, the last of which was the game winner. Blaze Puzzangara (JR/West Chester, PA) added three hits and an RBI while Colin Shirk (JR/West Chester, PA) added two RBIs. Ian Whitman (SR/Jonestown, PA) game in and got the win in relief for Williamson.
