RICH YACOS WINS 2025 QUICK 32 SPORTSMAN SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP

Final two Series Events part of the John Scotti Canadian Championship Series NHRA National Open at Toronto Motorsports Park

CAYUGA, ON (September 30, 2025) – The Top Dragster Team of Rich and Karen Yacos of Cambria, NY won the Quick 32 Sportsman Series Championship this past weekend at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, ON. The Series competed as part of the John Scotti Canadian Championship Series NHRA National Open.

“Our 2025 race season was a successful one—built on dedication, experience, and commitment. We competed in nine events and advanced to the final round in four of them—not a bad ratio,” said Quick 32 Sportsman Series Champion Rich Yacos.

“Each race brought its own unique challenges, but behind the scenes, it was my wife’s encouragement that kept me grounded. This championship is just as much hers as it is mine,” Yacos added.

“Equally rewarding to both of us has been the camaraderie and friendships we’ve built with the other race teams. The bonds we’ve formed through the Outlaw Fast 16 and Quick 32 Sportsman Series are truly irreplaceable. It’s more than just competition—it’s a community we’re proud to be part of.”

Rookie Ryan Harris finished second in the Championship Point Award Series, followed by Kayden Wicke in third. Michael Kalin finished fourth, and Dave Burchell rounded out the top five.
The event took place with two complete days of qualifying and eliminations.

Paul Coull and his Top Sportsman Too Coull Racing 511 cubic inch blown 1953 Chevrolet Corvette from Princeton, ON ran 4.474-sec, 142.35 mph lap to defeat series rookie Ryan Harris, the Top Dragster winner from Burford, ON driving the family’s Top Alcohol Dragster. He posted a 4.003-second, 146.65 mph pass on the TMP eighth-mile surface Friday.

Saturday’s racing saw Rob Gray from Salford, ON, driving the Wilson and Gray 706-cubic-inch powered Chevy Cavalier Top Sportsman entry run a 4.408 sec, 161.15 mph pass, eliminating Top Dragster winner and series champion Rich Yacos, who posted a 4.294 sec 165.26 mph effort.

“It was an interesting season, over 50 awesome Canadian and American Top Dragster and Top Sportsman teams competing, a first-time Series Champion, along with first-time and repeat event winners,” said series organizer Bruce Mehlenbacher. The four-race series was split with two events each at NY’s Empire Dragway and Toronto Motorsports Park outside of Cayuga, ON.

“We originally started at TMP Victoria Day Weekend in 2005,” Mehlenbacher went on. “We looked forward to these season-ending events and excited to be included in the John Scotti Canadian Championship Series and the return to Cayuga.”

Rich Yacos won the 2025 Quick 32 Sportsman Series Championship Point Award Series with 829 points, Ryan Harris was second with 777 points, Kayden Wicke third with 751 points, Michael Kalin fourth with 718 points, Dave Burchell fifth with 713 points, Bill Stevens was sixth with 527 points, Paul Coull seventh with 440 points, Brian Werner eighth with 414 points, Tyler Rudolph ninth with 413 points and Wilson & Gray 10th with 398 points.
