FIM-E Rider Update: A Mixed Summit Attempt for Team Brothers
A mixed Summit attempt for Team Brothers
The Swedish summer usually means sun, long days and plenty of fika, this wasn’t quite the experience of Team Brothers at the recent Summit Equipment Internationals at Tierp Arena just north of Stockholm.
The trip didn’t get off to the best of notes with Margot and Stefan Schmidt (FIM-E Super Street Bike) stranded on the roadside with a wounded transporter. Once they arrived at the track and met up with team mate Eric Richard (FIM-E Top Fuel Bike) things didn’t progress as planned. Catching up with Margot after the meeting:
“On track, we started the weekend with a reasonable Friday where I managed to set a time with a 7.36 and Eric managed to run a decent 6.50. On the Saturday there wasn’t any improvement on both bikes unfortunately, Eric had a lot off wheelspin issues and I had to deal with shift issues the whole weekend [ending up sixth and thirteenth in the Top Fuel Bike and Super Street Bike fields respectively].
On elimination day, I raced against Ross Morrison, and had a reasonable start but the bike wouldn’t shift from 2nd to 3th gear so we lost that round. Eric did a lot better and managed to make it to the semifinals [defeating Rene van den Berg in the opening round of eliminations]. He had a fantastic start off the line but during the run the bike lost power and he wasn’t able to keep up with Sverre Dahl unfortunately.
Major thank you to Daniel Lencses who was supporting and helping from back home, we know how hard it is for him not to be there with us.
In two weeks time the team will travel to Hockenheim for the third round in the FIM European Championship, let’s see if we can leave a true Team Brothers Dragracing impression there!”
With the assistance of Rene van den Berg, Margot and Stefan are now back in the Netherlands preparing for the forthcoming NitrOlympX in Germany with both her and Eric looking to improve on their current points positions [Richard being in second spot with a shot at getting a lot closer to the top] before heading to the final round in the UK in early September.
