Marc Lalonde wins round 3 of the PM Promotions Series at Cornwall Motor Speedway
Cornwall, ON – Sunday, July 27, 2025 – Martin Belanger – After a Sunday off, the Cornwall Motor Speedway was back in action on Fence Depot Night as the PM Promotions Pro-Stock Series headlined a busy schedule featuring six divisions and over 100 cars in the pits!
Jonathan Galipeau was the early leader in the 40-lap PM Promotions Pro-Stock Series event, ahead of Burton Ward and Delbert Lagrow. Ward used the inside lane to take the lead from Galipeau on lap 10. As Ward pulled away from the pack, Yves Hamel moved into third just before a caution on lap 12. On the lap 13 restart, Ward remained in the lead, followed by Hamel and Marc Lalonde in third. Mike Gaucher spun in front of the stands on lap 16, bringing another caution. Ward held first with Lalonde now in second and Hamel in third. Ward and Lalonde battled side-by-side for several laps before Lalonde took over the lead on lap 24. He led the remaining laps to capture his fourth feature win of the season.
In the JLB Heating and Cooling 358-Modified feature, Justin Cyr took the early lead with Kevin Hamel second and Mario Clair third. Clair used the outside line to pass Hamel for second on lap 5, then caught Cyr and took the lead on lap 10. A caution came out on lap 12. On the restart, Clair built a sizable lead and held a half-track advantage late in the race. Corey Wheeler moved into second with five laps to go, but Clair held strong to capture his second win of the season.
The Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman division closed out the night with a 25-lap feature. Eliott Gamache led early over Sylvain Dupuis and Jeff Lapalme. A caution flew on lap 4. Gamache kept the lead, with Fire Swamp moving into third. However, handling issues for Gamache allowed Dupuis to take the lead, with Brennan Moore and Lapalme battling for third. A late caution came with three laps remaining. Moore took the lead over Dupuis and led the final circuits to get his first win of the season.
In the 20-lap Rick’s Ranch Mini-Stock feature, Valaire Lecuyer was the early leader until Felix Lavictoire brought out a caution on lap 3. On the restart, Carl Gorry briefly took the lead before Sebastien Raymond-Beauregard passed him. Raymond-Beauregard pulled away as action intensified behind him. A caution on lap 10 for Cameron Malloy bunched the field, but Raymond-Beauregard held off Christopher Proulx and Adrian Black to take the win.
In the 25-lap Street Stock feature, Brandon Gregory led early, with Stephane Philippe and Nicolas Gauvreau rounding out the top three. Tyler French charged into second by lap 10 as Gregory navigated lapped traffic. French reached Gregory’s bumper with five laps to go, but Gregory held on for the win, with French second and Philippe third.
The Eastern Ontario Vintage Club 20-lap feature saw Randy Gaudet take the early lead and never look back. Steve and Paul Billings followed in second and third, but Gaudet went wire-to-wire in the caution-free race to win the 70–80 class. Chris Wilson claimed victory in the 50–60 class.
Next Sunday, Cornwall Motor Speedway hosts the Canadian Big Block Series with a $10,000-to-win main event! Also on the card: the Farnham Ale Lager Pro-Stock Series, Weekend Warriors Pro-Stock, and Sportsman divisions.
