Racing Recap

Deporter Victorious in the Ryan's Autocare 50 lapper AT JEFFERSON SPEEDWAY

Late Models

It was Ryan’s Auto Care Night at Jefferson Speedway. The crowd saw excellent side by side racing all evening long. As the weather cooled, the action heated up. The Taylored Construction and Remodeling Late Models provided superb action throughout the field as usual. Tim Coley would snag the early lead. That lead was relinquished to Tyler Deporter on lap 9 of the Ryan’s Auto Care 50 lap main event. Deporter had a comfortable lead when Steven Sauer’s car would lose power, coming to a stop on the race track. The caution flag flew and the field tightened. Deporter regained the advantage on the restart. Deporter’s lead would evaporate when Michael Grueneberg and Kyle Smith would bring out the feature event’s 2nd caution with 18 laps to go. Deporter once again jumped out to the lead. Michael Guderski turned Stephen Scheel around with just 3 laps to go while battling for the 3rd spot. This set up a wild sprint to the finish. When it was all said done, Deporter would hold on for his first career Late Model Feature win. He held off a hard charging Shaun Scheel, Luke Westenberg, Kurt Kleven, and Don Gaserude in a wild and crazy feature event. After post race technical inspection, Shaun Scheel was disqualified.

Hobby Stock

The Gridline Landscape and Tree Company Hobby Stocks were paced to the green flag by Scott Tiedt and Chase Wangsness. Those two drivers were side by side for twenty laps. The field was two by two behind them. Caution would fly on lap 20 as patience was wearing thin behind the leaders. Waylon Robinson and Hunter Milbrath would be involved in that incident. After the caution, Chester Williams would aggressively split the leaders and take the top spot. At the stripe it was Williams taking the win. Avery Linnerud, Tony Ciano, Tiedt, and Shane Strothman would round out the top 5.

International

George and Amanda Bohn led the Wolff Pack and Apparel International Division to the green. George would drive away from his daughter and lead the first two laps. Merek Pankow would quickly move past Bohn for the top spot on lap three. Mark English made quick work of Pankow on lap four. English would build up a huge lead as the rest of the field battled for position. At the checkers it was English followed by Blake Nottestad, Pankow, Tim Higgins, and Karter Stark.

Bandits

The PJ’s Painting Bandits were sent the “wrong” direction for their feature event. This meant making right turns instead of the conventional left turns. Jon Petitt was up for the challenge. Petitt cruised to the win, leading every lap. He was followed by Josh Lenz, Trent Rueth, Tom Schuette, and Ryan Oetzel.

Six Shooters

The Sixer Division closed out the night with their 20-lap main event. The Sixers provided plenty of craziness throughout the feature. They were two and three wide through the field. At the conclusion of the event Dan Frye would see the checkers first. The top 5 was rounded out by Gracie Flanagan, Landin Frye, Daemyn Lounsbury, and Sean Worman.
