Porsche 917LH, LeMans Miniatures, 1/24

0 1
Hi

finally I got another one finished, the annual Martini-Model ;)

This time I built the 1971 Martini 917LH by LeMans Miniatures. It's basically your standard resine kit: Curbside, some etched parts and vacu formed clear parts. You can also find the usual highs and lows: the cast details are very nice, but the underside had lots of bubbles and even some big holes, also on parts that were partly visible, like the edge of the sides. It took me several rounds of puttying and sanding to get it look good.
I also had massive problems with the decals - I painted the dark blue areas and cut out the light blue and red strips. Everything went on well, but after clear coating I got the worst wrinkles I ever had on some decals (while others on the same sheet were absolutely fine). Usually you sand, touch up with a brush and the you continue with the clear, but this time even after the 4th clear coat I still got new wrinkles. Half of the area of the light blue stripes and the numbers are touched up. Fortunately you have to get close with the eye or camera to see it.

Everything else is OOB, except the headlight lenses that I 3d printed as I did not like the original parts , and I also now print my own belt buckles and adjusters instead of using etched parts.
Painted with Alclad Aluminium, eyeballed a dark blue out of different TS blues and several AquaColor and Vallejo paints for the details.

Hope you like it.

And the Martini collection... so far ;)
