Thunder Stocks & RoC Sportsman to Compete Thursday Night of Northern Nationals Weekend

OHSWEKEN, Ont. (August 26, 2024) – The popular Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stock division will make history on Thursday, September 12 when it headlines night one of the 2024 Ohsweken Speedway Northern Nationals weekend.

One of the speedway’s four staple divisions, the Thunder Stocks provide some of the most entertaining action week in and week out. The idea to showcase the full-fendered action makes sense to speedway General Manager Clinton Geoffrey.

“The fans love the excitement our Thunder Stocks provide every week,” said Geoffrey. “We open the track on the Thursday night of Nationals weekend every year, so why not give fans an affordable night of entertainment?”

Thursday night before the Nationals generally serves as a practice night for dozens of Sprint Car race teams in town for the weekend. Speedway management decided the night is better served adding entertainment to the practice.

The Race of Champions Sportsman Modified division will also compete on the Thursday night of Nationals Weekend. The traveling Sportsman series was supposed to compete August 2, but Mother Nature had different plans.

“Fans that have been with us since the beginning of the speedway love the Sportsman Modifieds,” said Geoffrey. “They used to be the headline class before Sprint Cars took over, and we still get a ton of requests to add them to our schedule when we can.”

The Thursday night of Nationals Weekend will be a $10 ticket in the main grandstands with a pit pass being available for $25. Fans will see a full night of Thunder Stock and Sportsman Modified competition as well as a sneak preview of some of the Sprint Car teams on hand to battle for big money throughout the Northern Nationals Weekend.

Camping reservations are still available for the speedway’s showcase event – The Northern Nationals Weekend presented by Nitro 54 Variety, Arrow Express, and Sit ‘n’ Bull Tire September 12th, 13th, and 14th, and so is reserved seating.
