Aberdein Puts Inter Europol Fastest In FP2
The #43 Inter Europol ORECA 07 ran fastest in the second Free Practice session of the ELMS weekend at Spa this morning, with a 2:04.530 early in the session from Jonathan Aberdein.
The #25 Algarve Pro Racing ORECA came closest to matching the #43, with a 2:04.717 from Alex Lynn. The only other car within a second was the #28 IDEC Sport ORECA, which finished the session with a time of 2:05.511.
The #21 United Autosports ORECA 07 Gibson ended up fourth and fastest of the LMP2 Pro/Am runners, with a 2:05.630 from Nelson Piquet Jnr.
Further down the order, the #65 Panis Racing ORECA ended up 11th fastest overall and fifth in LMP2, after bringing red flags out early in the session. Job Van Uitert had an off at Turn 7 on cold tyres, hitting the barriers.
LMP3 meanwhile, was topped by the #8 Team Virage Ligier JS P320 after a late flyer from Manuel Espirito Santo, which pushed the WTM By Rinaldi Duqueine M30 down to second by two tenths.
GTE was a Porsche 1-2-3, led by the #60 Iron Lynx Porsche after a 2:17.096 from Matteo Cairoli which topped Free Practice 1 yesterday. The #77 and #16 Proton Competition Porsche 911 RSR 19s completed the top three, both cars ending up with lap times within six-tenths of the #60.
Best of the rest was the #50 Formula Racing Ferrari that slotted in fourth with a 2:17.693.
