Reiter Engineering Confirm LMP3 Programmes In Michelin Le Mans Cup & Prototype Cup Germany
Reiter Engineering will undertake their first prototype racing campaign in 2022 with a full-season Ligier JS P320 entry in both the Michelin Le Mans Cup with a solo Ligier for Freddy Hunt and long-time Reiter Works Driver and 2018 ADAC GT4 Germany Champion Mads Siljehaug and in the new for 2022 Prototype Cup Germany with Austrian driver-duo Florian Janits and Eike Angermayr (pictured above).
Founded in the year 2000 by experienced racing engineer Hans Reiter, Reiter Engineering made a name for themselves with the manufacturing of several Lamborghini GT cars. Since 2015, the German team has been fully focused on the development of the KTM X-Bow in GT4, GTX and GT2 racing.
Hans Reiter: “Racing with Mads and Freddie will be fun. Both are great and unique characters, inside and outside the cockpit. We have known Mads for many years and have the highest expectations of him for 2022. Freddie is new to the team, our first meeting was last weekend during our ‘company ski day’ where he really impressed the team as a very wild guy, after knowing each other for a few hours we shook hands and now we’re making a le Mans Cup season together, love it, it’s going to be great.”
Freddy Hunt: “I’m delighted to be racing for Reiter Engineering in the Michelin Le Mans Cup this season. It’s been a few years since I’ve had the opportunity to compete in a full season so I’m really excited. Of course, we’re going to be fighting for the championship title We’re fighting and I think we have a strong team, but we’ll find out how strong we are in the first race.”
Mads Siljehaug: “Absolutely thrilling for me and my family team, Reiter Engineering, to dare to take the step together into the LMP3. Personally, I go into the series and season with great respect and humility in order to continue learning, to work hard with the team and to strive for points and podiums fight – as always!”
Florian Janits is looking forward to compete in the new German series with the bright white Ligier JS P320: “I am happy to be part of the new Prototype Cup Germany this year. The future will move towards endurance racing and therefore this platform offers a very good entry opportunity into this field”
“The calendar and the supporting programme offer sponsors and spectators a very attractive platform. I have been familiar with team Reiter Engineering for more than 2 years now and I am convinced that we will continue to develop over the season and do a good job. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my sponsors and, of course, my team for sticking to the performance I have shown so far and thus giving me the opportunity to take on this new challenge!”
Janits will join forces with fellow Austrian driver Eike Angermayr, a familiar face in the Reiter Engineering team. He drove the KTM X-BOW in both the ADAC GT4 Germany and Creventic’s 24H Series, among others. Angermayr: “I am overjoyed to take the next step in my career together with Reiter Engineering and to compete in the Prototype Cup Germany! Of course, the transition from GT to prototype will not be easy, but I am motivated like never before and looking forward to this new challenge.”
