Project 1 In Race To Source Spare Porsche 911 RSR After Prologue Accident
An incident early in the final track session of the FIA WEC Prologue at Sebring International Raceway on Sunday afternoon has seen the #56 Team Project 1 Porsche, entered with inception Racing emerge with heavy damage, driver Brendon Iribe mercifully unhurt after a big hit with the concrete barriers at the exit of Turn 1.
Contact between the Porsche and the Prema Oreca saw the Porsche turned around and impacting the wall hard, rear-end first.
The team have requested no photographs but the damage has been seen by DSC and is extensive, the rear superstructure pushed back into the mid-engine bay with clear heavy impact damage from a single point at the centre rear of the car.
Team sources have acknowledged that the car is beyond repair on-site and an immediate search has been launched to source a replacement car with Project 1 already in discussions with Proton Competition over the location and availability of their other cars.
The next track session for the FIA WEC cars after today is Free practice 1 for the 1000 Miles of Sebring on Wednesday at 11:05am local time.
