Double Factory Driver Effort From Schubert

BMW works drivers Nick Yelloly and Jesse Krohn will contest the 2021 ADAC GT Masters Championship in Schubert Motorsport’s BMW M6 GT3.

Yelloly has been a BMW works driver since 2019. Last year he contested his first season in the ADAC GT Masters, celebrated his first victory at the Red Bull Ring and also won the ADAC Total 24h Race at the Nürburgring. Since 2015 he has also been active as a Formula 1 development driver for Aston Martin and the predecessor teams Force India and Racing Point.

For team-mate Krohn, a BMW Works driver since 2018,  2021 sees a return to a full season GT Masters effort after competing in the USA where, amongst other results he scored a class win at Daytona in 2020.

Krohn first drove for the Schubert squad in 2015, and, most recently he jumped in last season at the Sachsenring for a one-off appearance.

“We are very pleased to announce such a strong driver pairing for the ADAC GT Masters”, says team boss André Schubert, whose team is the third most successful in the history of the ADAC GT Masters with eleven wins. “Last season we made excellent progress with the BMW M6 GT3. With Nick and Jesse, we have two outstanding BMW Motorsport drivers on board who will help us move forward. Both had a significant share in the team’s successes last year. I am convinced that we made the right choice with this combination. ”

Team Joos Sportwagentechnik Name 2021 Porsche Drivers

Team Joos Sportwagentechnik step up from a couple of guest appearances (at the Nürburgring and Hockenheim) last season to a full season in 2021 with a single Porsche 911 GT3 R for ex Porsche factory driver  Marco Holzer and series newcomer Johannes Stengel.

“We can hardly wait for our first full season in the ADAC GT Masters,” says team principal Michael Joos. “We noticed from our guest starts how fiercely competitive the series is. We look forward to this challenge. With Marco and Johannes we have a very promising driver pairing. We want to collect as many points as possible and set one or the other highlight. ”

Marco Holzer competed in the ADAC GT Masters in 2016, 2019 and 2020. “This will be my first full season in the ADAC GT Masters. I’m really looking forward to being able to compete in what is perhaps the strongest GT3 series. I already know the Joos team from last season from the guest start at Hockenheim. Johannes is a young and fast teammate, whom I will be available with my experience. We are already exchanging information on a regular basis. We want to improve over the course of the season and get good results. ”

GT3 though is new territory for partner Johannes Stengel. Most recently he started in a Cup Porsche on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife and clinched a class win at the ADAC Total 24h Race. At the beginning of the year, he contested his only GT3 race in an Audi R8 LMS in Dubai. “Switching to the ADAC GT Masters is an incredible step for me,” says the student from Münsterland, who is entitled to points in the Pirelli Junior classification. “I already tested the Porsche 911 GT3 R a little last year and therefore I know how it feels. It’s great to build something new with the Joos team in a family atmosphere. In Marco I have a great team-mate from whom I can certainly learn a lot. Even if it’s a dip in the deep end, I couldn’t imagine a better environment for my promotion to the ADAC GT Masters. ”

Zakspeed Confirm Second AMG Crew

The Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing team has confirmed that their second Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo for the full 2021 ADAC GT Masters will see Hendrik Still, who had his first outings in the ADAC GT Masters with the team last year, share the car with newcomer Constantin Schöll.

The pair join the team alongside former champion Jules Gounon in the team’s lead car whose team-mate is yet to be confirmed.

Managing Director Philipp Zakowski is optimistic about the new season: “Of course we want to fight for top positions. It’s great that Mercedes-AMG has provided us with such a strong driver in Jules Gounon. We look forward to working with him. Hendrik Still convinced us during his assignments in 2020. With Constantin Schöll, he has a young and talented teammate at his side. ”

Zakspeed has been competing in the ADAC GT Masters since 2014 and won the drivers’ championship in 2015. Last November, the team won the Sunday race at the Lausitzring.

MRS GT Switch To Porsche

Brand change at MRS GT-Racing: The team from Lonsee starts in the ADAC GT Masters this season with a Porsche 911 GT3 R. With Maximilian Hackländer, the first driver has been determined.

After recent seasons with McLaren, Nissan and BMW, Kasten Molitor and Iris Dörr’s MRS GT team is switching to a Porsche for their premier campaign for the first time since 2011 in the German GT Championship. Back then, MRS GT-Racing, as a guest starter, clinched an instant victory in their series debut at the Red Bull Ring. In the past two seasons, MRS celebrated two more triumphs with the BMW M6 GT3 on the Austrian Formula 1 circuit.

“In the past, we often had to be asked why, with our 18-year-old Porsche background, we don’t actually race a 911 in the ADAC GT Masters,” says Karsten Molitor. “On the one hand, the model cycles never worked, and on the other hand, we have always been very experimental. This also has been good. After all, we were able to achieve respectable successes with our outsiders, not least, last year we were able to set a very strong accent with our BMW M6. With third place in Saturday’s race in Spielberg and a victory on Sunday in the 200th ADAC GT Masters race, we delivered perfectly. Nevertheless, we are very happy that it has finally worked out with a Porsche, even if it was not that easy. Since Porsche was no longer able to deliver new vehicles, we secured a vehicle on the secondary market. Now we can hardly wait until it finally starts. ”

Regarding the driver line-up, the former racing driver says: “We are delighted with our newcomer Maximilian Hackländer. In the Audi R8 LMS, he has already shown the potential he has several times. We hope that we will soon be able to announce his teammates. ”

In addition to the ADAC GT Masters, MRS GT Racing will also compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, where it will field two new Porsche 911 GT3 Cups.
