Monday Paddock Notes From Barcelona: Part 2

0 10

There are a number of additional drivers registered for the Test Days:

In LMP2, Roberto Mehri, set to join the #26 squad at Spa, is set to get seat time here too in preparation.

The Racing Team Turkey #34 team will test Logan Sargent, FIA F3 Championship race winner, in the frame to replace Harry Tincknell at Red Bull Ring which has a clash with the factory Mazda DPi driver’s IMSA commitments.

Markus Pommer appears to be the nominated third driver for BHK Motorsport’s LMP2 effort though the team have not run in the first two sessions of the test.

In GTE, subject to confirmation from the team, Iron Lynx appear to have brought Manuela Göstner back to replace Esmee Hawkey.

Colapinto’s Busy Weekend

G-Drive Racings Argentine ‘Young Gun’ Franco Colapinto’s 2021 plans have been hit by the switch of the FIA WEC ‘Prologue from Portimao to Spa.

The switch saw the WEC needing to prep the circuit on dates that had previously been allocated to a race meeting which included a double-header round of the Formula Regional European Championship (FREC), that meeting switched to Imola but on dates that now clash with the opening round of the ELMS.

The current plan is that Colapinto will race at Imola on Saturday, missing FP2 and Qualifying in Barcelona, and will miss the Sunday race in Italy in order to start his ELMS season campaign.

WRT Refused Additional Assistance For Kubica

Team WRT requested a dispensation to allow a fourth crew member to assist with driver changes in stops involving Robert Kubica, suggesting that, as a result of the injuries Robert suffered in his 2011 rallying accident, he was unable to properly fasten his belts without assistance.  The request has been turned down.
