10 Questions – Stacy Olson
Each week, a driver will take turns answering nine questions, and one question asked by a fellow driver. This week we talk with Stacy Olson, who drives the #13 in the Legends Series. Stacy has been rooted in racing for a long time through family, and is in a relationship with fellow Legends racer, Dave McCalla. See what she has to say below:
1. What is your favorite part about being a race car driver?
My favorite part of being a driver is I get to experience the thrill of being on the track with some of Iowa’s best.
2. Your family has a rich racing history..what made you want to get in the seat instead of just being a fan?
Racing has always been a huge part of my life. My summer vacations growing up consisted of being at a race track. I’ve seen and met some of the most amazing drivers in my time. I have always wondered what it would be like to drive a car. Getting into a seat I knew I had big shoes to fill. When you hear my last name you think of racing and dominance in the sport. My uncle started that path for us with his amazing skills and then my brother and cousins continued that legacy. Dating David put more pressure on me as he has had a lot of success in the racing world. I wanted a shot to be apart of that, as it has taken me a lot longer than them to be the “one to beat” (haha) I don’t think I could ever go back to being just a fan. Although I don’t win races, I have a good support team and being in my car makes me happy and that’s all that matters to me.
3. What is your favorite racing memory?
One of my favorite was when I had a good qualifying time. Qualifying 7th fastest and 4th fastest out of Hawkeye downs drivers was a pretty exciting moment for me. Not sure what the hell I did to get that time but it was rewarding.
But I have to say that winning the trophy dash was my most favorite memory! I can’t remember a time that I was more excited and happy! It was the best feeling ever! Everyone knew what winning that would mean to me and it’s something I will never forget.
4. If you could choose any track/car combination to race on in the world, what would it be and why?
Indycar at Indianapolis speedway! My dad is a big Formula 1 fan and we used to sit and watch it with him as kids and I always thought it would be a dream to drive one of those.
5. Let’s say you could never race again.. what sport would you choose to play?
Softball. Softball was my sport growing up, and still is. I never struggled with sports until I got in a race car. Some things come easy to some people and some it takes a little longer. For those who give me crap about not being able to keep up with the pack…..grab a bat, and lets have a little homerun derby 
6. Favorite meal to eat?
Breakfast! Any breakfast food I’m good with!
7. If a fan has only a couple seconds with you, what is the best way for them to maximize their time?
Smile pretty for the camera
8. What would you say is your “spirit animal” and why?
Lol…uhhhh….. I would say a dog. I love car rides, I love mornings, I love walks and I’m a bed hog
9. Do you have any superstitions on raceday?
Yep, Its bad luck to wear your pit pass on your right wrist. It has to be the left wrist! Its also bad luck to eat on race day.
10. What’s your question for the next driver?
Do you think Dave McCalla is an a******?
