Patriot Sprints and Race for the Cure Sportsman Series this Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway!
Cornwall, Ont – Thursday, July 18, 2019 – Martin Bélanger – The streak of special shows continues at Cornwall Motor Speedway with the Patriot Sprint Tour in town along with the 2nd round of the Race for the Cure Sportsman Series with a 100-lap event paying $2,000 to win.
The Patriot Sprint Tour will make their only appearance in Canada over the next weekend and Cornwall will be the 2nd of 3 stop in the Canadian championship that also includes Brockville and Oshweken on Monday and Tuesday. Both Brockville and Cornwall will pay $3,500 to win which should attract a good field of cars that will include 4-time winner this year in this series and current point’s leader Davie Franek, Joe Trenca, Jared Zimbardi, Jordan Thomas, Kyle Drum, Pete Richardson, Josh Azzi, Roger Levesque and Jonathan Preston. Having the weekend off, we will see to Empire Super Sprints and Southern Ontario Sprints joining forces to compete on this 4-night trek in Ontario. Car count in the 20s is expected for Sunday evening.
Sharing the spotlight with the Sprint Cars will be the 2nd round of the Race for the Cure Sportsman Series with 100 laps on the card. Shane Pecore had the best over 33 other competitors on opening night in May. Having strong field of cars on every Sunday, we can expect to see numbers similar to the first race of this series as the winner will leave with $2,000 in his pockets.
The Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock will run a 25-lap event in preparation for the Sisters for a Cure 50 to be held the following Sunday and the Tracy Wheeler Assist2Sell Mini-Stock with 15 laps are also on the card. The Loud and Dirty Modified division has its only night off as several drivers will make the haul to Utica-Rome Speedway to compete in the DIRTcar 358-Modified Series.
The pit gates will open at 3pm to welcome the drivers, the admission cost will be $30. In general admission, doors will open at 5pm with a price of $20 for adults, $10 for senior 65 years plus and kids 16 years and under, it will cost $2 to access the grandstands. Time trials are scheduled for 6pm and heat races will start at 6:30pm.
