Fassler Replaces Injured Milner For CTMP
Corvette Racing’s Tommy Milner will be sidelined for the next IMSA round at Canadian Tyre Motorsports Park due to a left-hand injury, according to Milner’s teammate Oliver Gavin.
Milner underwent checks following his crash on the first lap of the race at Watkins Glen. Those checks are what revealed an injury to Milner’s left hand.
“On advice of the doctors, there is too much risk for further damage and it needs time to heal,” Gavin wrote in a Twitter post, now confirmed by a team announcement.
Marcel Fassler has been called upon to fill in for the injured Milner. Fassler is the regular third driver in the #4 Corvette C7.R, he has already competed this IMSA season at Daytona and Sebring with Gavin and Milner.
In the meantime, we’re glad to be able to call on Marcel [Fassler]. He always does a first-class job and we’re all confident he’ll do that this weekend,” Gavin wrote in the same Twitter post.
This is the second time this season a driver in GT Le Mans has had to have been replaced. The first being Joey Hand’s absence for Ford at Long Beach and Mid-Ohio due to an illness. He was replaced by Sebastian Bourdais.
The IMSA Weathertech SportsCar Championship, the Michelin Pilot Challenge, the IMSA Prototype Challenge, and Porsche GT3 Cup Canada are all on the docket for this weekend at Canadian Tyre Motorsports Park.
