A very busy 2019 season for the Sportsman at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

0 20

Cornwall, Ont – Thursday, May 9, 2019 – Martin Bélanger – The Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman division is the most popular one in terms of regular attendance at Cornwall Motor Speedway with over 20 cars in the feature on every Sunday evening. The numbers should be in the same ballpark for the upcoming season.

It will be another busy year for the Sportsman drivers as they are participating in all 17 scheduled events on the 2019 calendar. The Race for the Cure Sportsman Series is the main highlight during that extensive schedule as they will run three 100-lap events. The initial round will be part of opening night on May 19th, with the second and third round being on July 21 and August 5th respectively. This series always attracts the best drivers from Ontario, Quebec and Northern United States.

In addition to the Race for the Cure Series, two other extended features are on the racing card, part of the 50th year of racing celebration, the Sportsman will run a special 50-lap race on June 23rd that will have a special purse. The DIRTcar Sportsman Series will be the other special event on August 22nd in conjunction with the Race for the Cure 150 event, both races should get a lot of interest from drivers in the area. The other 12 events scheduled will be 25 laps in distance.

On the track, it will be another heated year as 9 returnees out of the top 10 in points are back plus the addition of Moise Page who finished fourth in the Race for the Cure Series and has been a front runner at Mohawk on Friday evenings. Looking to get a second title in a row, Shane Pecore will certainly be the guy to beat but he will have to compete against a great field of drivers that will include Brianna Ladouceur, Justin Lalancette, Page, Adam Rozon, Thomas Cook, Kurtis Cayer, Justin Desrosiers, Billy Cook, Bob Ray and company that will look into capturing a championship.

Great field of cars, a very talented pool of drivers, several special events, all nice ingredients to make for a great year in the Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman division.
