[Baseball] Reinhardt rallies back to edge Knights in game 3

0

Waleska, Ga.- The St. Andrews University baseball team suffered a heartbreaking defeat in game three of their series with conference foe Reinhardt University on Saturday falling 4-3 on a walk-off hit in the ninth.

After starting pitcher Zach Saylor (SR/Jamestown, NC) pitched 8 innings of one run ball, the Knights offense finally awoke in the top of the ninth rallying for three runs to take a 3-1 lead on the Eagles. However, with SAU clinging to the two-run lead, Saylor came on to finish the ninth and allowed the first two runners to reach base safely as they would eventually come around to score to tie the game at 3. Freshman reliever Charles Tortorici (FR/Fredericksburg, VA) (0-1) then came on to relieve him and recorded two outs before giving up a hit putting the winning run on base. Senior reliever Landon Kincaid (SR/Morganton, NC) then came on to try and extend the game to extras but gave up the game-winning hit as RU drove in the winning run to steal the victory from the Knights.
